I was referred to Dr Kashani By another Dr when I asked who he would use if he had to have a surgery like mine. It is about one month from that time the surgery is done and I feel great. He explained the process to me and the possible complications. There eneded up being three hernias and he took care of them all. I feel geat and am happy with the results.

My First impression of Dr. Mehran was a good one. I felt satisfied that I would be in good hands during surgery. Overtime my impression became more and more positive at every meeting with him. His office staff was very efficient and inline with your personal goal. The least thing that I liked about Dr. Mehran was, that I felt and still feel that he needs to slow down! He is very efficient, confident, and knowledgable at what he does, however when he is in his office I felt that he needed to take a deep breathe and simply slow down a little bit.
Dr. Mahran and his staff greatly emphasize the importance of before and after care. They have wonderful programs set up with straightforward information about life before & after the surgery. Dr. Mehran is very direct about the risks of surgery. At every meeting he would emphasize those risks to make sure I was very clear on what I was getting into. Overall Dr Mehran was wonderful. His bedside manner was also great, and the support he gave my family was so appreciated.

Dr Mehran was very pleasant. I had read his BIO before my appointment, and was very impressed with his background, education, and articles (close to 400) he has written. He is very friendly, and gave ample time for questions. Do your homework, as it really matters to him that you know all about WLS. I feel very confident to have him as my surgeon. Any doubts I had about the surgery, he put me at ease. Most importantly, he discussed not only the benefits but the risk. Reminded me that this was only a tool, and that “I” will be the ultimate determinator of the outcome and success.

Dr Kashani was referred by my old doctor, ever since the first time i met him for my consultation its been a breeze. I knew once i walked out of his office i would be in good hands. He is kind, & funny at every doctors visit. I had my Lap-band surgery April 19th 2012, and since then i have been doing great. Not only is he an awesome kind doctor but has a great staff, that makes you feel important. I’m so glad i have him as a doctor, and would recommend him to EVERYONE!!
Thanks Dr Kashani & staff for changing my life.

Dr Kashani was refured to me by another dr that was not in my insurance network.I had my Lapband surgery on may 31 it was the best thing I ever did. Dr Kashani is one of the most calming people I have ever met. His staff has always been great also if you are looking into bariatric surgery I highly recommend him

Dr. Kashani is the best! He and his staff are always, professional, courteous, knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. He and his staff have always provided exceptional service to me from my first consultation. I HIGHLY recommend this doctor to anyone considering bariatric surgery!!!!!!!

Not a game player. To the point regarding importance of following doctors orders and recommendations. I credit him for saving my life. As a lifelong obese person, many doctors don’t even like to touch us. Dr. Mehran changed my opinion about doctors … Which then changed my idea about taking control of my life.

“Dr. Mehran made me so comfortable in my choice and decision. He answered questions, was always popping in/out my hospital room. He is a physician who truly CARES about his patients – and the nursing staff abides by his orders to the letter! I feel like my life began after my surgery with Dr. Mehran. I also worked with Dr. Scott Um. He’s an amazing doctor, too. Combined with Dr. Mehran, I feel I had the BEST care and support both before and after surgery.”
- RidgebackMom
“Great personality but strict with his regimens, which is great for me. His surgical team and office staff have been great since our first contact. I am so thankful. Nursing care at UCLA was great during my hospital stay. Today is postop day 6 and I feel great!”
- Kimbethin
“I liked his bed side manner right away. I still like him, his Fellows are great, especially Dr. Nicole Basa. She’s great and I saw her a lot in the hospital. Surgical competence is number one in my book, but I have to be able to trust my Doctor. Dr. Mehran made me feel at ease and seemed very knowledgeable, and I had complete confidence in him and his surgical team.”

“Dr. Mehran is awesome he has such a great sense of humor and is so easy to communicate with. I saw him and people from his staff each day I was in the hospital very attentive. I was suppose to have had a different doctor but at my pre-op I met with rnDr. Mehran thank God!”

“I loved this doctor, he was very personable and funny. I felt totally comfortable with him. The office staff was very busy but nice. There were 4 classes that took a month to complete on the before and after care. There were also tests after each class that you had to pass or you had to repeat the class. I am a RN and I found the classes very informative. I felt totally prepared for my surgery. The risk were spelled out during the classes and by Dr M pretty thouroughly. i would rate Dr M 10 out of 10. His surgical competence and bedside manner are equally excellent!”

“I thought he was nice and very thorough. He has a cheerful disposition but serious enough. He covered all bases and I look forward to my pre-op app. My pre-op went fine I still like him, he is kind and funny. He is busy but I don’t have a doctor who isnt so I dont count that against him. I had my surgery July 13th he is great. It is now August 1st and I have had my 14 day visit and I think he is great. Ive had no problems at all! I had none in the hospital and I still haven’t had any. No vomitting nothing he is a good doctor. I’d recomend him to any one. overall 1-10 one being awful and ten being excellent I’d say 10.”

“Friendly, open, receptive. Made me feel welcome. Impression only became better over time. Office staff is very competent and informative. There’s nothing I didn’t like.
Probably that he’s so busy because he’s one of the best, if not the best. We had four weeks of classes to teach before and after care. My friend who was done outside of UCLA said she learned much more in my classes, since she had none. I feel very well prepared. He’s very concerned about risks and making sure we understand. Because we lived more than 60 miles from the hospital, he kept us an extra day to make sure we were OK. He didn’t want us so far away in case of emergency.
As a patient, I received excellent care from Dr. Mehran. At the same time, UCLA is a teaching hospital and Dr. Mehran’s interaction with his students during my visits was excellent. He strives to make sure they’re getting this. Both great! Surgical competence is off the chart, he’s that good. And I’m impressed that he came to the hospital even late after having been in seminars all day to see us. (Even tho his assistants had been with us during the day.) He’s very hands on.”

“Dr. Kashani was referred to me by my primary physician when I needed to remove my gallbladder and I could understand why during the consultations and pre-op moments. Dr. Kashani took his time to listen to my concerns, doubts, to calm me down right before the surgery when he detected a hernia in my belly button explaining in a very simple way that it was not a big deal and how he would take care of it (I am on of those who freaks out easily when it comes to my health). Dr. Kashani is one of those rare professionals who really cares for his patients and his good professional name, meaning that he will not offer to do a surgical procedure unless really necessary. I recommend and i ever need another surgery, would definitely trust him again.”
- Miriam E, Sherman Oaks (from Yelp)
“Dr. Kashani is a very competent surgeon in his area of expertise. He was referred by Dr. Rubinson. Being a patient of Dr. Rubinson for about 8 years now, I trust his recommendation and without a doubt, Dr. Kashani is remarkable. My surgery went well with no complications. I’m very satisfied with the result of my operation. I highly recommend his services.”
- Ethel R, Studio City
“I am so glad I found Dr. Samuel Kashani’s office after doing extensive research on 5 other doctors. And he also came highly recommended from my primary doctor, as well as having done Laparoscopic surgery on a childhood friend of mine.
Here is my situation: I have a 3 month old baby and I had been having gallbladder pain for about 5 months now, the pain was excruciating and I felt as if it was getting on the way of me taking care of my baby properly, in other words; I don’t have time to get sick, or to be in pain. I went in to see Dr. Kashani on Wednesday, he sent me to do the blood work on Thursday and Friday at 2pm I was already in the operating room, his office staff helped me with all the paperwork and even put a rush on it (awesome!)
I had Laparoscopic gallbladder surgery 6 days ago, Dr. Kashani came in to see me before the surgery to see if I needed anything or if I had any questions, and he also stopped by after I had awaken from the anesthesia to check on me again. The incisions are so small and I’m healing extremely well!
Yesterday I had my follow up appointment and once again Dr. Kashani did not come short to my expectations, he was extremely attentive to my every concern, I like the fact that he didn’t rush me through the appointment and really took the time to listen to me. The entire office staff is super nice and Dr. Kashani is the BEST!!! He is so knowledgeable and down to earth. He made me feel welcome and comfortable the second he shook my hand. His years of experience are evident in his practice. I highly recommend him to anyone in a heartbeat!!!”
- Alexandra P Lake Balboa
“Dr. Kashani is polite, interested and most important, a very fine diagnostician. He took charge of what i had preferred to ignore and made sure it would not escalate into something serious. He is what the medical profession should be about. Other doctors could learn from him,”
- Ira Agoura Hills
“My appendix exploded. Dr. Kashani said, “We are going in NOW.” (I had been considering just going to Olive View and saving some money — I was not insured). A few hours later, I open my eyes and I see Dr. Kashani peering intently at me: “I need you to be proactive in getting better! You’re going to need to WORK. Your inside is a mess right now, and you’re the one who’s going to get YOURSELF better by doing what I say.” Dr. Kashani’s exams in the hospital and in his office were not just exams, but coaching sessions. This man is just ferocious in ensuring that his patients get well and stay well. I recommend him highly. He saved my life. He can save yours.”
